The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will hold a meeting Wednesday at Long Beach City Hall.
The topic is about rebuilding beach dunes, which, in addition to being beautiful and iconic, also serve as protection from high tides and storms.
Officials will meet with residents to give an overview of the groin construction and rehabilitation and sand placement projects for dunes and beaches along the Atlantic coast from Jones Inlet to East Rockaway.
The rehab project is fully federally funded by the Army Corps to rebuild and protect the barrier island from future storms like October of 2012’s superstorm Sandy.
The meeting is on the sixth floor of Long Beach City Hall, 1 W. Chester St., at 7 p.m.
