Posted on February 26, 2018

Leicestershire construction materials giant Aggregate Industries has a acquired a £25m turnover business based in the South East

The aggregates to asphalt, ready-mixed concrete and precast concrete products business based at Bardon Hill, Coalville, has bought aggregates and ready-mix concrete manufacturer and dredging specialist Kendall Group.

The acquisition allows Aggregate Industries to expand its operations in the South of England – an area of the UK expected to benefit from above national average growth, especially in the housing segment.

It will also enable Aggregate Industries to enter the dredging business and secure a long-term position in the sector.

The acquisition will add to the over 330 sites and 4,100 staff Aggregate – part of the LafargeHolcim Group – already has.

Aggregate Industries chief executive François Pétry said: “The Kendall Group perfectly complements our existing activities, both in the geography of its operations and its product offering.

“The company has a great track record, employs great people and shares our dedication to providing our customers with high quality products and services.”

Richard Kendall, director of Kendall Group, said: “The Kendall Group has always been a family-run business.

“It was very important to us to find a company to take over Kendall’s who would take care of the both the business and the people we have nurtured for almost 100 years.

“I believe that we found this in Aggregate Industries and I look forward to watching the Kendall Group continue to flourish under their ownership.”

Aggregate was just named employer of the year at the 2018 Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM) British Credit Awards, having pioneered an innovative financial robotics system.

The company also took home the customer service hero award and credit professional of the year award – making it the only company to have won awards for five consecutive years.
