During the International Water Association IWA Efficient 2019 conference and exhibition, Ross McKenzie, Country Head of Arcadis Philippines and John Batten III, Global Cities Director of Arcadis, one of the world’s largest consultant for built environment talks to GineersNow TV about their latest infrastructure technologies, water innovations and global industry expectations.
About Ross McKenzie
Ross is based in Manila and is the Executive Director and Heads the Arcadis Philippines business. Originally a structural engineer from New Zealand, Ross has travelled and worked around the world working within the engineering and management consulting industries. His experience includes buildings and hydropower projects, such as the design of two run of the river schemes in Mindanao, Philippines, a 35-storey tower in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and a private school redevelopment in London, UK.
Ross initially joined Arcadis to support regional operational performance, and transitioned to his role leading the Philippines business in April 2018. His focus with the business has been to engage with the people to create a supportive and collaborative culture and to expand the business through diversification.
About John Batten
John is the Regional Sustainable Cities Leader for Asia, working with clients to address the complex challenges that they are facing to deliver sustainable solutions. With a focus on Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the wider Pearl River Delta, and Shanghai, John provides expertise and support to our teams to drive urban resilience, mobility and livability. John is also Global Cities Director for Arcadis, leading a team dedicated to delivering outcomes that improve quality of life, safely and sustainably.
John is a globally recognized thought leader in urban sustainability and water and has more than three decades of experience in the field. He now leads a portfolio of 21 global cities for Arcadis. John has a wealth of experience which includes management of drinking water, wastewater utilities, water for industry, water quality and public health, marketing, communications and customer and public relations. John holds a BS degree in Environmental Sciences from The American University and a Master’s degree in Public Health from New York Medical College.
