Launching Ceremony of a New Dredging Vessel Severnaya Dvina Takes Place in Vietnam

A launching ceremony of a new dredging vessel Severnaya Dvina, project TSHD 2000 was held in Vietnam. The festive occasion took place on 9 November, 2015 at the Song Thu Corporation shipyard, Da Nang, being a part of Damen Shipyards Group, Russian Maritime Register of Shipping said in its press release.

Severnaya Dvina is being built under the technical supervision of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) as per design of Damen Shipyards Gorinchem. The vessel meets the cutting-edge requirements to dredger design and dredging equipment content; includes a lot of innovations enabling to optimize dredging and minimize expenses for operation and technical maintenance. Class notation: KM? Ice1 (at d<=3,94m) R1 AUT2 Hopper dredger.

New dredger is designed for excavation and disposal of spoil from the seabed, dredging of seaways, channels, roadsteads, seaport water areas and approaches thereto to provide safe navigation of ships. Its specific feature is a combination of the suction dredger and hopper barge functions.

length overall – 80,35 m;
breadth – 16,2 m;
deadweight – approximately 3030 t;
draft at dredging – 5,1 m;
maximum depth of spoil excavation – 22 m;
hold capacity – 2 000 cub. m.

The vessel is being built by order of FGUP Rosmorport and will join the Russian fleet in spring 2016. The dredger is proposed to be used for maintaining the specified depths in the water area and at the approaches to the seaport of Arkhangelsk.
