Las Palmas port authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Las Palmas) president Juan José Cardona and the president of the Fuerteventura island, Marcial Morales, announced that they plan to tender the extension of the dock of Puerto del Rosario this year.
“The project to expand the commercial area of Puerto del Rosario’s wharf is in the drafting phase, so it is expected that this year, works that will lead to an extension of the berth area will be carried out, allowing separating cargo from passenger traffic,” Marcial Morales said in a statement.
Morales made this announcement after meeting with the president of the port authority, in a meeting that was also attended by the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Fuerteventura, Antonio Rodríguez Marichal, to address a series of projects to be executed on the island, informs the island corporation.
Morales added that, with the works that are currently being executed, more than a hundred berths will be added in the pontoons of the sports area of the Puerto del Rosario wharf. The Fuerteventura government has also requested the concession of existing land between the Nautical School of Puerto del Rosario and the Avenida Marítima for the construction of a multipurpose sports building, aimed at water sports.
