Large areas of beach currently cordoned off

Large areas of Cobb Gate shingle beach have been cordoned off for re-profiling work

Posted on June 25, 2020

THE sand beach and most of Cobb Gate shingle beach in Lyme Regis is currently cordoned off while re-profiling and dredging works are carried out.

Large areas of the shingle beach have been roped off while Dorset Council re-profiles the steep ridge, while the sand beach has also been roped off as harbour dredging works continue.

The work has coincided with one of the hottest weeks of the year, and many beach-goers have already packed into the small area that currently remains open.

Dorset councillor Daryl Turner has said the work was likely to take two to three days.
