Lake Peachtree dredging only halfway finished

Peachtree City residents hoping to see Lake Peachtree refilled over the summer will have to wait a while longer. The Fayette County Water System announced Monday that the lake bed dredging is only halfway finished, due to delays caused by frequent rain that impedes equipment. The new projected completion date is late August. An evaluation is pending to confirm that repairs to the lake’s dam and spillway are complete, which will allow for the eventual water restoration. County Manager Steve Rapson said, “Hopefully we will get as much rain after the dredging project as we received during the project.”
