Angered by the resurgence of illegal dredgers on its waterways, the Lagos State Government has decided to suspend all dredging activities in the state.
The state commissioner for waterfront infrastructure development, Adebowale Akinsanya, who made the disclosure said the government would do all that is possible to arrest the fragile coastline of the state and its attendant environmental challenges.
Akinsanya said having reviewed the activities of dredgers in the state, the government has decided to suspend all dredging activities, put on hold all issuance of licenses till all new conditions and registration were met.
