Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard (part of United Shipbuilding Corporation) today, January 29 launched the Sommers, the lead vessel of a series of three dredgers of TSHD 1000 design, being built for Rosmorport, the IAA PortNews correspondent reports from the launching ceremony.
The TSHDs series is scheduled for delivery in 2016. The contract between Rosmorport and Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard was signed in April 2014 with the assistance of MNP Group. Keel laying of the Sommers was held in November 2014.
The TSHD 1000 was designed by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem and working design documentation was provided by Volga-Caspian Design Bureau.

Vessel particulars: LOA – 62,6 m; Beam – 14 m; Draft – 4,25 m: Hopper capacity – 1000 m3; Deadweight – 1685 tonnes; Trailing pipe diameter 500 mm; Total installed power 3225 kW. The TSHD 1000 series vessels feature outstanding dredging capabilities to dredge to a depth of 20 meters and operate at water temperatures -2 ° C to + 20 ° C.
All vessels will be tailored to satisfy customers requirements and to operate in local climatic conditions. MNP Group’s Civil Shipbuilding Director MNP Andrei Ivanov said the TSHD 1000 vessels will feature state-of-the-art package of dredging solutions.
The shipbuilder plans to deliver all the three TSHDs named Sommers, Kronshlot and Kadosh, on-budget and ahead of schedule, in the 2016 summer and autumn navigation season. The TSHDs will perform maintenance dredging in the basins and assess channels of the ports of Ust-Luga, Big Port St. Petersburg and Tuapse.
