The Western Dredging Association is excited to announce that the keynote speakers have been confirmed for the upcoming Dredging Summit & Expo ’22 in Houston this July. Col. Rhett A. Blackmon will take command of the Galveston District in July and address our members during the opening plenary on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 8:45 am. In addition, Rich Brynes, the Chief Infrastructure Officer from the Port of Houston, will provide a keynote presentation at the Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 12:50 pm. Please mark your calendars and show both of these gentlemen the dredging community’s support for the USACE and the Port of Houston.
As a reminder, reduced rate registration ends May 15th for WEDA’s Dredging Summit & Expo ’22. The conference will be held at the spectacular Marriott Marquis Hotel in downtown Houston, Texas, from July 25-28, 2022. This year’s Expo will be the largest WEDA ever and the most beneficial and highly attended dredging conference in the entire Western Hemisphere. We will begin the meeting on Monday, July 25th with four (4) continuing educational short courses (details below) followed by a welcome reception on the 2nd floor of the Marriott Marquis.
At WEDA’s Dredging Summit & Expo ’22 you will get three days filled with high-quality presentations and focused panels, access to our Expo Hall featuring 120+ exhibitors, and a complete social program to properly facilitate interactions with more than 700 attendees from all segments of the dredging industry.
WEDA is a not-for-profit professional association and our primary focus is to provide the most value to our members, meeting attendees, and the dredging industry in general. We believe that sharing knowledge and information to benefit the dredging industry while protecting and/or restoring the environment is essential to the long-term success of both the marine environment and the industry itself.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The Dredging Summit & Expo ’22 is a technical conference to promote the exchange of knowledge in fields related to dredging, navigation, marine engineering, and construction. It will provide a forum for improvement of communications, technology transfer, and cooperation among associations & societies while emphasizing the importance of understanding and the development of solutions for problems related to the protection and enhancement of the marine environment.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Building the Future of Dredging“. The presentations featured at this conference are technical papers to be shared for the advancement of the science and profession of dredging, navigation, and marine engineering.

Join us at The Golf Club of Houston on Sunday, July 24th for the Greg Hartman Golf Tournament. This is a great opportunity to play on the same course the PGA Tour pros have played during the Houston Open. The format is a four (4) person team scramble with a shotgun start at 1:30 pm.

The Marriott Marquis Hotel has been selected for the Dredging Summit & Expo ’22. The hotel is conveniently located in Downtown Houston, directly across from Discovery Green and within walking distance to several restaurants and shopping centers. The WEDA group rate for the Marriott Marquis Houston is $249 per night and is available 3 days prior and 3 days post-conference. The Marriott Marquis hotel will sell out the week of the Dredging Summit & Expo so we suggest making your reservations ASAP.
