Keel Laying of NB 988 at Vard Shipyards Romania – Braila.

On 21 November 2025, we marked the keel laying of NB 988, an Offshore Subsea Construction Vessel for Dong Fang Offshore 東方風能 (DFO).

Ollie Chasteauneuf, Fleet Manager, DFO highlighted the significance of the ceremony: – This ceremony signals our commitment to work with VARD to deliver a best-in-class vessel. Today, we also place coins beneath the keel, following a tradition meant to bring protection and good fortune to the ship and all who will work aboard her.

The vessel is of VARD 3 39 design and will support subsea operations, offshore wind activities, and cable installation. It will be 121.3 m long, 23 m wide, and accommodate up to 130 people.

The hull is under construction in Brăila, with outfitting and delivery scheduled at Vard Søviknes.

Thank you to DFO for the strong collaboration, and congratulations to everyone involved in reaching this milestone.
