Ministry has signed a contract with Van Oord Dredging and Marine contractor for the dredging, reclamation and civil works of Gdh.Thinadhoo, S.Feydhoo and K.Himmafushi, The ceremony on 5th November 2015 at Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure was attended by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Area manager of Van Oord Dredging and Marine contractor Mr. Ton van der Burg, Hon. Mr. Ibrahim Didi, MP for Feydhoo, Uz. Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim, MP for Thulusdhoo, Hon. Saudh Hussain, MP for Villigili, senior officials from the Ministry and Van Oord Dredging and Marine contractor.
On behalf of the Government, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu signed the contract agreement and Mr. Ton van der Burg signed the contract on behalf of Van Oord Dredging and Marine contractor.
Under the agreement dredging and reclamation works of the three Islands, GDh. Thinadhoo, S. Feydhoo and K. Himmafushi will be carried out by the Van Oord Dredging and Marine contractor and the project costs MVR 603,697,903.56. The project is schedule to be completed within 14 months from the date of contract signed.
The scope of the project includes, in GDh.Thinadhoo an area of 53 Ha will be reclaimed and a revetment of 1852 meters will be constructed. In addition, S.Feydhoo 50 Ha of land will be reclaimed with 1680 meter of revetment and in K.Himmafushi reclamation area will be 21.6 Ha and 890 meter of revetment.
