Jan de Nul Has 35M Euro Contract in Ukraine Canceled After Complaint

Posted on November 29, 2016

Jan De Nul saw one of its contracts in Ukraine valued at 35 million euros canceled by the competition authority of the Eastern European country following a complaint by a competitor, a subsidiary of the Dutch Van Oord company.

The contract concerned work in the port of Youjne (south-west), on the Black Sea.

The cancellation is linked to technical specifications, according to the company. Local media reported suspicions of corruption. The offer selected would also be 4 million euros higher than that of competition.

Jan De Nul refers to the taking into account of a set of criteria to designate its offer as the most competitive, despite the price difference.

The dredging company will probably stop there and not undertake any further action.
