Jan De Nul acquires Aircoplus

Posted on March 26, 2025

Jan De Nul welcomes the Belgian family-owned company Aircoplus into its ranks. As a specialist in heating, cooling, ventilation, and sanitary systems, Aircoplus will strengthen Jan De Nul’s construction projects.

Aircoplus specialises in the design, installation and maintenance of heating, cooling, ventilation and systems for sanitary facilities, mainly for large buildings such as offices, hospitals and residential care centres. With for example the new prison in Antwerp, the Defence headquarters and the VRT broadcasting studios in Brussels, Jan De Nul has many complex construction projects in its portfolio.

The two partners have been successfully working together since 2005 on various projects, including the ASZ in Aalst, the ORSI medical training centre in Wetteren and the Leietop residential project in Deinze. To offer their customers integrated solutions, they are now joining forces.

“Aircoplus has been a valued partner of Jan De Nul for 20 years. One of the reasons is their clear focus on renewable energy.”

Manager Construction Projects at Jan De Nul

Dirk Van Rompaey, Manager Construction Projects at Jan De Nul:

Aircoplus has been a valued partner of Jan De Nul for 20 years. One of the reasons is their clear focus on renewable energy. Over the past decade, Jan De Nul has grown significantly in realising sustainable and innovative construction projects. People know us mainly as a dredging company, but with this acquisition we strengthen our market position as a ‘World builder shaping water, land and energy’.

Jonas Roelandt, son of founder Yvan Roelandt at Aircoplus:

It means a lot to me to give my father’s life’s work a secure new home. With the expertise of Jan De Nul’s engineering and installation teams, we can further develop Aircoplus in a highly specialised market.

Energy efficiency

Aircoplus is particularly committed to energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. With an increasing focus on the energy consumption of both new buildings and renovations, their activities are in full swing. Solutions such as heat pumps, heat recovery systems, BTES or geothermal energy are their speciality. Jan De Nul has also been using these sustainable technologies in its construction projects for years.

Aircoplus was founded in 1998 and is based in Aalst, where Jan De Nul is also anchored. It employs about 50 people. The company will continue to exist as an independent legal entity under the umbrella of Jan De Nul.
