Jamaica Beach Nourishment Project
Begins Monday, May 5, 2025
The Beach Nourishment Project will begin on Monday, May 5, 2025, with the delivery of equipment and installation of signage.
- Sand delivery will start on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the far west side of the beach.
- Weather conditions may affect the project timeline.
- The project was originally scheduled to begin in Fall 2024.
- Due to circumstances beyond our control, the General Land Office (GLO) contractors were delayed due to shortage of materials needed to begin the project.
Project Phases
- Initial Phase (West of Buccaneer):
- All work will take place west of Buccaneer.
- The beach west of Buccaneer will be closed (see schedule below).
- The beach east of Buccaneer will remain open.
- 2. Second Phase (East of Buccaneer):
- Once work on the west side is complete, activities will shift east of Buccaneer.
- The beach west of Buccaneer will then reopen.
The project is expected to continue through summer 2025.

Access Restrictions
During Active Work (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM):
- No vehicle or pedestrian access will be allowed on the active construction side of the beach.
Evening Access (Monday–Thursday, 6:00 PM – 7:00 AM):
- Full beach access will be restored each evening.
Weekend Access (Friday 6:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM):
- Full vehicle and pedestrian access to the entire beach will be available throughout the weekend.
