Colonel Robert Ruch, the Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineering and Support Center in Huntsville, relinquished command to Lieutenant Colonel Burlin Emery May 13th during a ceremony at Redstone Arsenal’s Bob Jones Auditorium.

Colonel Ruch has been the Huntsville Center commander since July 26, 2012 and officially ended his 30 year career with the Army on Friday.

Huntsville Center provides specialized technical expertise, global engineering solutions, and cutting edge innovations through centrally managed programs in support of national interests. Huntsville Center has a very varied mission and Ruch says he hopes his successor remembers that communication is key.

“What I would hope with the organization I’m with now… its communication with the rest of the Corp of the Engineers and the Army. We are a unique organization and it needs to be explained what we do, and how we do it with others and the services we deliver,” he said right before the ceremony.
