MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Officials provided an update Monday on ongoing beach renourishment work in Myrtle Beach.
Horry County said the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ contractor, Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company, has moved its equipment south of Singleton Swash.
Operations were planned to continue in that area for about two weeks. A spokesperson with the county said however, the timeline for the project has changed.
After completing work there, the county said the crew will perform routine equipment maintenance before returning to begin renourishment activities in the Arcadian Shores section.
Horry County said renourishment is completed in short sections to limit disruption. At any given time, about 1,000 feet of shoreline may be temporarily closed for two to three days while work is underway.
