HCMC Prompts Dredging of Years-long Polluted Canals

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has asked related agencies to complete dredging of 18 canals in Hoc Mon and District 12 by the end of this year in accordance with an instruction by Secretary of the city’s Party Committee Dinh La Thang.

These canals have been polluted for several years without any dredging or cleanup project having been implemented.

The People’s Committee required the Steering Center for Urban Flood Control Program to transport mud and waste dredged from the canals to eligible treatment places in order not to pollute the environment and affect urban landscape.

Formerly, the years-long canal pollution was reported to Secretary Dinh La Thang at his meeting with voters in Hoc Mon district recently.
