A dredging project on the southside of St. John’s harbour has been temporarily suspended after some bones were brought up from the bottom of the harbour this week.
The bones, including what was described as a leg bone, are now with the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for identification. The RNC is awaiting the results to see whether further action is required.
It’s not immediately known if the bones are those of a human or an animal, or how long they may have been there.
The Coast Guard is currently doing excavation and dredging work in the area near their base on the south side as part of efforts to upgrade the dock.
