Harbor Dredging in Boston to Delay Hingham, Hull Commuter Ferries

Posted on January 16, 2019

Select trips on the MBTA’s Hingham/Hull ferry will be delayed from Thursday, Jan. 17, through Thursday, Jan. 31, because of a Boston Harbor dredging project.

The following ferries to Boston will be delayed: the 8:40 a.m. from Hull, and the 8:20 a.m., 8:45 a.m. and 3:45 a.m. from Hingham. Out of Boston, the 3:45 p.m. to Hull and 4 p.m. to Hingham will be delayed.

The delays will be up to 35 minutes and other trips may be impacted as the project progresses, the MBTA warns.

The Army Corps of Engineers began the harbor project in September of 2017, and the actual dredging started last spring. The $350 million, 3½-year project will widen and deepen the shipping channel.
