The Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation and Conservation District is facing criticism on two fronts as it prepares to begin dredging the sediment-filled King Salmon Fisherman’s Channel later this year.
Last week, harbor district officials heard King Salmon residents voice frustrations over the district’s decision not to dredge the four residential canals that have filled with sediment and eel grass over the last 30 years. Harbor district Executive Director Jack Crider said it has taken the district nearly two years just to get to where they are now and will likely take a few more before they can begin dredging the residential canals.
