Dredging of the channel leading into Nantucket Harbor is now underway and will continue during daylight hours for the next four to five weeks, Nantucket director of emergency management Dave Fronzuto said Thursday.
The dredge Currituck was delayed in starting the work by storms in early October, but is working now and berthed at the Nantucket Boat Basin, he said.
The work will have no impact on Steamship Authority and Hy-Line service to and from the island, Fronzuto said.
“They have worked up here many times before, especially in Lewis Bay, the channel leading into Hyannis Harbor,” he said. “They work well together with the boat lines.”
