Greece plans for dredging and maintenance of Braddock Bay navigation channel

Posted on February 18, 2025

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Town of Greece announced plans for dredging and maintenance of Braddock Bay.

The plans are aimed at the navigation channel, which involves the purchase of a new hydraulic dredge. The dredge arrived this week and will be operated by Westpoint Marina, LLC.

Greece Town Supervisor William Reilich said dredging is set to begin in early March and finished in early April before boating season begins.

“Maintaining the dredge equipment at Braddock Bay will allow Westpoint Marina to keep
the navigation channel clear with more reliability and without the added cost and uncertainty of
mobilizing a subcontractor,” Reilich said in a statement.

This comes after a 10-year effort to revitalize Braddock Bay and the 300-slip marina located there. Reilich says the bay suffered from environmental degradation and unpredictable access to Lake Ontario.
