The government is planning to dredge another 178 rivers to increase their navigability, said Water Resources Minister Anwar Hossain Manju recently.
While responding to a query, the minister informed the parliament that since 2009 around 1,200 kilometres of river route has so far been increased through dredging.
The length of internal river routes of the country is 6,000 kilometres during the monsoon and 4,000 kilometres in the dry season, the minister added.
