On June 23, 2025, GLDD’s Steve Becker, Senior Vice President, Fleet Engineering was awarded the 2025 WEDA Industry Innovator Award, presented at the WODCON XXIV Welcome Reception.
Steve Becker has over 41 years of service in the dredging industry working for Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co., LLC (GLDD). All the efforts by Steve and the Mechanical department he manages is a major reason GLDD has maintained its leadership role in the U.S. dredging market, in safety, dredge innovations, and production.
Steve, an innovator and equipment leader, was responsible for most of the GLDD new builds and major renovations during his career including innovative dredges like Chicago and Ellis Island. Steve graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
It is great to see Steve recognized externally by WEDA at the WODCON Conference.
