GE Vernova aims to install a prototype of its next-generation 15.5MW Haliade-X offshore wind turbine in Norway after securing Nkr332m ($31m) from a government-backed agency.
The turbine will be installed by the US group’s local subsidiary Georgine Wind at a site onshore in Gulen municipality, subject to final licensing approval by the Norwegian authorities.
Deployment is expected in 2025 with a testing period of up to five years for the turbine, which will have a 250-metre rotor diameter.
