FORT WORTH, Texas – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District Deputy Contracting Chief, Contracting Division, Gerard Henry was recently announced as the winner of the 2021 Excellence in Contracting Awards – Manager of the Year Award.
Each year, USACE recognizes the significant achievements and contributions of our contracting workforce for their commitment and service. The nominees for each award were evaluated based on their demonstrated leadership, contracting expertise, and professional development. With 110 nominations for individuals, teams, and districts, the panels deliberated thoughtfully and earnestly as they identified the best of the best.
A U.S. Army Veteran, Henry has over 15 years of contracting experience and has been with the Fort Worth District since April 2015. He had been on a developmental assignment as Acting District Contracting Chief since May 2020 and is now Deputy Chief of Contracting and Chief of the Business Oversight Branch. He previously served as Branch Chief, Military Branch; and Branch Chief, Civil Branch. He also previously worked at the district for three years in 2005 as a Contract Specialist.
In his position as District Contracting Chief, Henry was responsible for acquiring all necessary commodities in support of the Fort Worth District’s mission and strategic goals. He serves as the primary contracting officer for supplies, services, construction, and procurements valued over $2 billion utilizing various contracting methods. He manages the District’s multimillion dollar contracting portfolio for civil works water resources projects; military design and construction projects, environmental restoration, and horizontal/vertical border wall projects supporting district, regional, and worldwide boundaries.
