Former USACE DCG, and others, named in the 2025 Black Engineer of the Year Awards

Lt. Col. Stephen Brooks, deputy commander for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District, will be recognized with the BEYA Stars and Stripes Service Military Award at the conference on Feb. 14, 2025, at the Baltimore Convention Center.

Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Ronald L Johnson, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) former deputy commanding general has been named as the 39th Black Engineer of the Year by Black Engineer Magazine and will be recognized at the magazine’s Black Engineer of the Year (BEYA) STEM Conference in February.

Johnson retired as deputy commanding general of USACE and deputy chief of engineers in 2008 and is currently the Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff at Georgia Tech.

In addition to Johnson, sixteen current USACE members will also be recognized at the conference on Feb. 14, 2025, at the Baltimore Convention Center:
