Federal Maritime Commissioner Rebecca Dye will lead an FMC initiative to work with the private sector to find commercial solutions to congestion at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
The commission voted unanimously to issue issue an order directing Dye to work with companies to form “supply chain integration teams” to address problems at the Southern California ports.
Dye also will “identify potential commercial solutions to certain unresolved problems that may interfere in the future with the reliable operation of the U.S. supply chain,” the FMC said in announcing the initiative.
