Maintenance work to clear debris from the rivers and repair retaining walls following last month’s unprecedented flashfloods was outlined in Tynwald this week.
But the court was told that any work on flood defences to protect badly-hit businesses on Hills Meadow and the National Sports Centre was on hold pending the drawing up of a national strategy that would prioritise areas for action.
‘What we must not do is jump headlong into something,’ insisted Environment Minister Richard Ronan.
