JAKARTA – The Mayor of North Jakarta, Hendra Hidayat, explained that his party continued to handle the flood that hit a number of areas by optimizing the pump engine owned by the North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sudin on Sunday, January 18, 2026, afternoon.
“We are pumping as much as possible, all of the pumps owned by SDA are in standby condition,” Hendra told reporters, Sunday, January 18, 2026.
In addition, his party also coordinated with Ancol which has internal pumps, including opening the Marina water gate so that the river water flow can immediately flow into the sea.
Meanwhile, the North Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Erick Frendriz, said that police officers were also alerted on a number of roads that could not be passed by vehicles.
Kombes Erick said drivers were directed to use alternative routes so as not to force them to pass and avoid broken vehicles that could exacerbate congestion.
“We continue to monitor until the condition is completely safe,” he said.
Kombes Erick added that puddles also occurred in several other areas such as Kelapa Gading, Pluit, and Semper Barat.
However, most of the puddles in the area have gradually receded. According to him, the area that is still quite deep is currently in the Gunung Sahari area and several sections in Kelapa Gading.
Previously reported, the North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) continued to continue dredging to normalize a number of reservoirs, rivers and connecting channels (PHB) in North Jakarta to anticipate subsequent flooding when bad weather strikes.
“We will continue to dredge. We will continue to dredge to increase the capacity of the reservoir, the river. We will do a lot of dredging,” said North Jakarta Water Resources Sub-Director Heria Suwandi when confirmed, Friday, January 16, 2026.
Heria said that from the results of the check by his party, it was found that there was a subsidence in the Angke River due to sediment of mud so that it had to be dredged.
“For example, in Kali Angke, Kali Angke is naturally dredged. We are dredging to open a new area, namely in the BKB segment. Kali Angke is one of those affected by rob, so the sediment (mud) is already high,” he said.
Heria said that a number of times (rivers) in North Jakarta are still a priority for dredging because there are many sediments so that the capacity of the river when storing water is decreasing.
“Many times in North Jakarta that must be given priority to dredging. This means that dredging must continue, dredging using excavators,” he said.
Heria admitted that he would provide the best service to the community, especially in North Jakarta, in terms of flood control.
