Belgian offshore wind developer Parkwind has completed turbine construction works on the 257-MW Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm with the erection of the last three machines in the German Baltic Sea.
The company boasted that the last of the total of 27 turbines at the Arcadis Ost 1 farm were installed in less than eight days despite the harsh weather thanks to the purely floating installation method chosen in partnership with Heerema Marine Contractors and Vestas.
Work on the project will now continue with offshore activities including cable termination and commissioning work.
Located northeast of the island of Ruegen, Arcadis Ost 1 is expected to produce enough electricity to power 290,000 homes. The plant, which is already feeding power to the German grid, is scheduled to be commissioned sometime this year.
