Federal Marine Terminals (FMT), a subsidiary of Canada’s Fednav Limited, recently announced a new river terminal on at Port Itawamba in Fulton, Miss. The operating agreement was signed back in March.
The port, located on the Tennessee-Tombigbee River at Mile 390, has state-of-the-art facility, which include two 30-ton hooks, a barge slip for multiple barges, 12 acres of outside open storage, a 14,000-square-foot warehouse, and a bulk material barge loader.
At the port, FMT will be handling a variety of commodities, including steel, bulk, forest products, and project cargoes.
With this multi-year lease, the port says it demonstrates its confidence in FMT, positioning the terminal operator as its exclusive stevedoring and logistics service provider. “We are excited to expand our current footprint by partnering with the Itawamba County Port to help drive new revenue streams for the port and its community,” says Louis Saint-Cyr, president of Federal Marine Terminals. “Our strong expertise in logistics services will be an asset.”
