Eroding Sands Continue To Plague A Beach In Sussex County

SUSSEX COUNTY, De. — The north beach at the Indian River Inlet looks much different than it did just a few months ago. Natural causes have quickly undone the work of 480,000 cubic yards of sand pumped onto the beach in late 2024 and early 2025.

The extreme cold has impacted the county’s dredging efforts with much of Sesuit Harbor in Dennis frozen. Over the weekend, the frozen waters temporarily iced-in the county dredge Cod Fish Two.
