The eroded stretch of the seashore near Kursura Submarine Museum is again abuzz with visitors after the Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) launched the beach nourishment programme here.

The Dredging Corporation of India (DCI), after getting the contract from the VPT, started dumping sand extracted from the ‘sand trap’ created between the Dolphin’s Nose and South Breakwater on the eroded stretch near the Submarine Museum. This was the first time VPT had deployed a dredger to nourish the scoured beach area. Within three weeks since the project began, the area, now a wide beachfront in the making, has already started receiving more footfalls. DCI will take another week to complete its month-long task.
