Endless Dredging in Yaquina Bay

In what may eventually become an annual event, the Port of Newport plans to dredge a foot or two of sand this winter at the NOAA Marine Operations Center’s shipping berths.

Port General Manager Kevin Greenwood said this week the depth of the dredge prism is currently down to an estimated 22 to 23 feet, and the port has a federal permit to dredge as deep as 25 feet.
