Ellicott 1270 to dredge sand from the Indian River Inlet

Posted on December 12, 2024

In critical situations such as the events that occurred in November 2024 along Coastal Highway at the Indian River Inlet near Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Due to several storms in the area, the dunes that normally protect the highway have eroded, which has caused flooding along the highway.

As a result, the State of Delaware has enacted a plan to dredge sand from the Indian River Inlet Flood Shoal to rebuild the shoreline. Dredge America is tasked with the dredging operation using an Ellicott® 1270 dredge pictured below.

This is just one example of Ellicott® Dredges providing the right tools and equipment for critical applications such as this. Dredging will continue at the Indian River Inlet through 2025
