In the Barhalganj area, erosion is taking place near eight villages including the Distwalia-Musadohi road.

In Gyankol village, half of a house was washed away in front of the Chief. Top officials of the Irrigation Department camped at the erosion site in Chillupar (Gorakhpur). Efforts to protect villages located in the Diara region of the Barhalganj region from the erosion of the Saryu River have intensified. On Monday, Upendra Kumar Singh, Chief Engineer (CE) of Mechanical, External and Materials, Irrigation Department, from Lucknow, inspected the erosion site with a civil team. During this, the CE conducted a detailed survey of the dredging work. Meanwhile, in Gyankol village, the front portion of a house was washed away by the river in front of the CE. He also assured the village of protection from erosion. The river has reached close to the Ram Janaki Marg. Due to the erosion, eight houses in Gyankol village have been washed away by the river so far. Thousands of acres of agricultural land have been submerged. Meanwhile, eight villages, including Gyankol, are also facing the threat of erosion. One-third of the road built for the people of these villages was also submerged in the river. On Monday, half of the concrete house of Santosh Yadav of the village was washed away. The remaining portion will soon be submerged. Furthermore, the remaining 13 residential houses in the village are vulnerable to river erosion.

On Monday, Amar Ujala prominently published a news story titled “Saryu River to be diverted to stop erosion in Barhalganj.” Following this, the Irrigation Department swung into action. In Diara, Chief Engineer of Mechanical and Materials Upendra Kumar Singh from Lucknow inspected the erosion site along with a team from the Civil, Technical, and Public Works departments. In the presence of the villagers, he directed a survey for the dredging work. He assured the villagers that a team of experts is conducting a survey regarding the diversion work. The report will be sent to the government. Every effort will be made to stop erosion through other measures. No loss of life will be allowed.

Apart from this, the Chief Engineer also inspected the erosion near Ramjanaki Marg Bagaha Dewar link road. Gave instructions for repair to the Public Works Department officials present on the spot. During this, half of the pucca house of Santosh Yadav of Gyankol village was eroded in the river. During the inspection, Chief Engineer Gandak Gorakhpur Vikas Kumar Singh, Vaibhav Singh Executive Engineer Gorakhpur, Dinesh Kumar Executive Engineer Basti, Vishwanath Shukla Executive Engineer Sant Kabir Nagar, Bharatram Executive Engineer Balrampur, Jaiprakash Singh Superintending Engineer Gorakhpur, Vijay Kumar Superintending Engineer Mechanical Kanpur, Kuldeep Tiwari Executive Engineer Mechanical Kanpur etc. officials were present.
