ECTMarine Provides Details on New Cutter Head

DredgeWire interviewed Jesse Boerma, ECTMarine’s VP of Sales, for this article.

Recently ECTMarine delivered a Cutter Head for the dredger “Andre Gendre” of Grand Port of Saint Nazaire in France with cutter power of 400 kW. The cutter needed to be customized to fit the specific dredger and delivered in a limited amount of time. The succes of this project lays in the customization of the cutter head to fit the specific configuration of the dredger. Where normaly customization means an increase in costs, ECTMarine has developed a design and production method for its cutter heads that can deliver a custom product at a competative price.

Techno-Supply, which is ECTMarine’s partner on the French market, and buyer of the cutter head, was a key player to sell this specialized product to the end user.

ECTMarine tells DredgeWire that its design method and production process are orginized in a way that allow for fast production of customized solutions.

ECTMarine further advises that cutter arm design is such that the teeth angle is optimal for cutter production at at any angle of the cutter relative to the bottom. The teeth placement on the arm make the repleacable teeth do the work with minimal wear on the arms of the head. This cutterhead is specifically designed for its application as no dredge project or challange is the same.
