The flagship development by Merex Investment is slated for opening in September 2024
Merex Investment has announced the near completion of J1 Beach, its flagship beachfront project in Jumeirah neighbourhood.
Nearing 94 percent completion, it is slated for opening in September 2024.
Significant milestones achieved
Structural and marine achievements comprise the completion of 582 foundational piles, extensive marine protection works, and 20 building shells which have been constructed, enabling tenant fit-outs to commence ahead of schedule. MEP works are 97 percent complete. The project’s soft landscaping features plants and trees imported from Spain and Thailand, integrated with Jerusalem stone for hardscaping. Other milestones includea record of over 2 million safe man-hours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI), the completion of essential foundation and soil stabilisation works, the construction of permanent marine structures, among others.
Shahram Shamsaee, CEO of Merex Investment, said: “We are pleased to announce that J1 Beach is nearing completion, and we’re on track to unveil a beachfront like no other in Dubai this September. J1 Beach embodies our dedication to creating innovative and industry-leading destinations that cater to the sophisticated clientele of Dubai. Our flagship project is poised to become a leading destination, attracting discerning residents and visitors alike. This project reinforces Dubai’s position as a global leader in hospitality and tourism.”
Commitment to sustainability
J1 Beach has incorporated advanced energy management technology and utilises recycled materials. Waste reduction and recycling are central to the construction approach, featuring comprehensive waste management plans and circular economy principles. This dedication to sustainability is also evident in the sourcing of materials with low environmental impacts and the responsible recycling of demolished building materials, all contributing to significant carbon emission reductions.
About J1 Beach
Dubai’s La Mer development was filled with restaurants, cafes and bars when it first opened in the Jumeirah 1 area in 2017. But at the end of 2022, parts of the area, namely La Mer South, was being demolished as owner Merex Investment set about plans to revamp the beachfront destination.
In its place is J1 Beach, which will see 13 venues (split between restaurants, bars and beach clubs) open in September 2024, with the first outlets originally being scheduled for Q1.
The concepts will come from French-born Paris Society, now owned by hotel giant Accor and specialising in high-end dining concepts, RG by Ricardo Giraudi Hospitality Concepts, and some local favourites
Designed to be Dubai’s next ‘must-visit’ destination, J1 will offer direct beach access and dedicated valet parking. J1 Beach is poised to become a pinnacle of gastronomic excellence, says the company.
