Dredging Work in Wonder Lake to Continue into 2016

The dredging of Wonder Lake was expected to take a little more than a year to finish. But now, two years in, the project is set to stretch into year three, the lake manager said.

The upside is that the contractor is being paid a flat rate to remove about 480,000 cubic yards of sediment instead of being paid for time and materials, lake manager Randy Stowe said.

The lake restoration project – which struggled to come to fruition since the 1960s – began in 2013 with the construction of a sediment drying facility where the material removed from the lake will dry out and perhaps be sold and has continued with the systematic dredging of various areas of the lake.
