Dredging Ship Belomorsky Returns to Arkhangelsk Under Russian Flag

Dredging ship Belomorsky of Northern Shipping Company OJSC has returned to the port of Arkhangelsk under the flag of Russia. According to the company’s press center, the dredger had been operating for 13 recent year under a long-term charter agreement at the ports of Italy, continental Spain, Canary Islands and Equatorial Guinea under the flag of Portugal.

In 2016 Northern Shipping Company OJSC decided to return the dredger to its base port of Arkhangelsk under the flag of the Russian Federation. The vessel will let the company expand its fleet’s dredging activities at the ports of Russia including the ports on the Northern Sea Route.

Apart from the Belomorsky, the company’s specialized fleet includes the Dvinsky Zaliv and the Onezhsky dredgers, diesel-powered barges – Lapominka, Teriberka and Chizhovka as well as anchor handling tugs.

Northern Shipping Company OJSC is among the largest shipping companies in the North-West Region of Russia engaged in maritime transportation of cargo all over the world including the Northern Sea Route. The Company’s fleet consists of multi-purpose dry cargo carriers with deadweight between 2,500 and 14,000 t. They carry all types of dry cargo including radioactive and hazardous cargo.
