Dredging Operations Scheduled at Salcombe Harbour and Surrounding Areas

Posted on March 18, 2026

Mariners are advised that, from 20th March 2026, Salcombe Harbour Authority will have a contractor providing maintenance dredging to Batson Creek, Lincombe and Kingsbridge Basin over approximately 2 weeks. Dredging will take place over each high water and ebb tide, both night and day, and is currently planned to begin at Kingsbridge and progress to locations further down the harbour.

During this period, Van Oord will be operating water injection dredger ‘Baldr’ and tug ‘Havik’ which, when in operation, will form one unit approximately 20m long and 3m wide, pictured below. Salcombe Harbour Authority vessels will also support this operation, including the dismantling and removal of pontoon systems. Please treat all craft as being restricted in their ability to manoeuvre, including those engaged in towing operations; the dredger will navigate the harbour between her various dredging areas.

During this period access to and mooring upon certain pontoon facilities will be restricted including the Batson slipway pontoon finger, landing pontoons at Whitestrand and Normandy, Winters Boatyard Pontoon, and Kingsbridge Pontoon.

Cancel this LNTM 5th April 2026.
