Dredging on Rambagh Flood Spill Channel Going at Full Pace Say Contractors

Posted on October 19, 2017

A delegation of contractors Wednesday refuted the allegations that the dredging work on Rambagh flood spill channel has come to a halt.

Terming the allegations malicious and an attempt to appease few, the contractors said that work on the Rambagh flood spill channel is going on full pace and those who resort to fake propaganda should themselves visit the channel to take the firsthand appraisal of ongoing dredging operation on the said flood spill channel.

“The bid for the dredging was allotted to a contractor in 2015. The said contractor started the dredging work as soon as he was given letter of authority. However, the work came to a grinding halt during 2016 summer unrest. But as soon as situation improved, the work was restarted and presently it is going on in full speed,” they said.

They said being Kashmiri and being the flood victims themselves they know the importance of dredging.

“Even the officials of Irrigation and Flood Control Department are satisfied but we fail to understand which elements are spreading the lies,” they said adding that dredging that is going on full pace surely will help in increasing the carrying capacity of water in this Flood Spill Channel to a large extent, which will help in quick discharge of water during floods.
