SIOUX CITY – Sioux City is taking steps to re-open the Sioux City Marina, which was closed last year, and to take control of the marina from its current operator.
Dredging of the silt buildup started last Monday, March 3. The city council has agreed to pay a company $60,000 to remove the sediment. That material has to be cleared by April 11th.
In the meantime, a hearing to schedule a trial date for the city’s lawsuit against River City Hospitality has been set up for Tuesday, March 11.
The city is suing River City to take over control of the marina and Jolly’s Bar.
River City Hospitality closed the marina last year over what it said were low water levels on the Missouri River.
Court records also show both parties have tentatively scheduled a mediation for next Wednesday, March 19.
