Dear Members,
As CEO and Executive Director of the Dredging Contractors of America, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the DCA 2021 Annual Meeting.
We have a distinguished panel of guest speakers this year, including, from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE): Major General William H. Graham, Jr. Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations; Ms. Margaret Gaffney-Smith, Acting Chief, Operations and Regulatory; Ms. Tiffany Burroughs, Chief, Navigation; and Mr. Jase Ousley, Dredging Program Manager, Navigation. Additionally, from the United States Congress: Mr. Ryan Hambleton, U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Staff Director, Subcommittee Water Resources and Environment; Mr. Jon Pawlow, U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Subcommittee Water Resources and Environment; Ms. Jen Armstrong, U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development; Mr. Ryan Seiger. U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure, Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment; Mr. Max Hyman U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee; and Mr. Clay Armentrout, Legislative Director, Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL).
We have a lot of information and association business to attend to over the next two days. As industry leaders, we will use this time to address critical issues impacting our businesses, engage in open forum and continue the discourse concerning policy issues important to the industry as whole. With the nation’s capital as the backdrop for our Annual Meeting, there is no better place to come together and unite through our common interests and goals. We can accomplish more when we act and speak as an industry with a collective voice.
It’s not all business this week. I am delighted to host as DCA Board President, Eric Ellefsen, President Weeks Marine, presents the DCA Lifetime Achievement Award to the Honorable Richard Shelby (R-AL). We also have planned perfect weather for the Annual Hackfest Golf Tournament, or a driving tour of the national monuments followed by a wine and charcuterie event on Wednesday afternoon.
I am confident that you all will enjoy this year’s DCA Annual Meeting. For everyone who is visiting Washington, DC for the first time, I hope you have the opportunity to visit the historical and majestic monuments throughout the city.
