Sharon Woods Lake is currently closed for extensive renovations, Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024.
Dredging of the 35-acre lake, which began in April, was needed to because of the sediment accumulation which was threatening recreation and aquatic habitats.
Most of the water has been removed, though are still some ongoing spots that are being emptied.
Sharon Woods covers 723 acres and is the oldest park in the Hamilton County Great Parks system, opening in 1932.
The biggest man-made lake in Ohio is Grand Lake St. Marys in west central Ohio at 13,500 acres.

This, of course, isn’t Parky the Raccoon, but Parky has been the mascot for the Hamilton County Great Parks since 1983.
