Tappan Zee Constructors completed dredging work at the $3.9 billion Tappan Zee Bridge project in New York, reports lohud.

The contractor removed 188,000 cubic yards of sand and silt to allow the I Lift NY supercrane to work close to shore so it can dismantle the current bridge and construct the new one.

Workers were required to finish the dredging before Oct. 31, when fish spawning and migration starts.
