St. Joseph Harbor was just dredged last year, but in order to keep large freighters moving through the busy waterway it will be dredged again soon.
Congressman Fred Upton told WSJM that an emergency allocation of 500 thousand dollars from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will fight back against lower lake levels and a buildup of silt from the Paw Paw and St. Joseph Rivers.
The dredging will also allow for the uninterrupted delivery of construction materials for the US-31 to I-94 construction project.
