A project to remove silt from a section of Silver Creek about a mile downstream from Kilpatrick Pond was scheduled to begin early this week.
On Nov. 17, Picabo Livestock Co. received a stream-alteration permit from the Blaine County commissioners to dredge about 2 feet deep of sediment from a 1,300-foot stretch of the creek at a spot called Big Bend. The permit was approved by a 3-0 vote. A stream-alteration permit had already been issued by the Idaho Department of Water Resources.
Picabo Livestock Co. owner Nick Purdy said the project should take about a month.
